Service Day & General
Should I unplug my appliance before the technician arrives?
Yes β for safety, please unplug your appliance before our technician arrives. For built-in appliances or those connected to gas lines, leave them as is and our technician will handle disconnection safely. For dishwashers and refrigerators, please clear the area around them so we have working space.
Do you stock parts in your service vehicle?
Yes β our trucks carry common replacement parts for all major brands, including belts, motors, igniters, control boards, water valves, drain pumps, and more. This means most repairs are completed in a single visit. Specialty parts may require a return visit within 24-48 hours.
How long does an average appliance repair take?
Most repairs are completed in 60-90 minutes during the first visit. Complex repairs (compressor replacement, transmission, sealed system work) may take 2-3 hours. Our technician will give you an estimated timeline before starting the work so you can plan your day.
Are there appliances you cannot repair?
We service all major household appliances. We do not service: commercial-grade kitchen equipment (restaurant ranges, walk-in freezers), HVAC systems, water heaters, or laundromat machines. For unusual cases or rare imported brands, please call us and we can advise.
What is the average lifespan of major appliances?
Typical lifespan with proper maintenance:
- Refrigerators: 10-15 years
- Washing machines: 8-12 years
- Dryers: 10-13 years
- Dishwashers: 9-12 years
- Ovens & ranges: 13-15 years
- Microwaves: 7-10 years
- Freezers: 10-20 years
When repair costs exceed 50% of replacement value and the appliance is over 75% through its expected lifespan, replacement may be more economical.
Service Visit & Trust
Do I need to be home for the entire repair?
An adult over 18 needs to be home to grant access, sign for any required authorizations, and confirm the repair is complete. Most repairs take 30 to 90 minutes once diagnosis is done. You are welcome to work or relax during the visit β our technicians keep the workspace clean and let you know when they are finishing up. Ready to schedule? Book your appointment online.
What is the difference between an out-of-warranty repair and a factory-authorized repair?
Factory-authorized repair shops are contracted directly by the manufacturer to handle warranty claims for appliances still under the original warranty. Timeless Appliance Repair is an independent local service company β we are not factory-authorized for warranty work. We provide quality out-of-warranty repairs for appliances whose manufacturer warranty has expired, or for owners who prefer a fast, local, independent technician. Every repair we perform comes with our own 90-day parts and labour warranty. We service refrigerators, washers, dryers, ovens, stoves, and dishwashers.
What should I do to prepare for the technician's visit?
Very little is required. Clear a path to the appliance, unplug it if it is safe to do so, and have any error codes you have noticed ready to share. For dishwasher and washer repairs, please give the surrounding floor a quick wipe so any leak history is visible to us. If you have pets, please secure them in another room β not because our technicians do not love them, but to keep both pet and technician focused on the job.
Will I receive a written invoice and warranty document?
Yes. After every repair, you receive a detailed invoice listing the parts used, the labour performed, the total amount charged, and your 90-day parts and labour warranty in writing. Keep this invoice β it is your proof of repair if the same issue ever recurs within the warranty period. Book your repair online when you are ready.
Do you run background checks on your technicians?
Yes. Every technician on our team is background-checked, identified with company ID, and trained in customer-home professionalism. We understand that letting someone into your home is a matter of trust, and we take that responsibility seriously. We serve Markham, Richmond Hill, and Thornhill.
Can I supply my own parts for the repair?
In most cases we strongly recommend against it. Customer-supplied parts often turn out to be the wrong model, a counterfeit OEM part, or a low-quality aftermarket version that fails again within months. When we install our own sourced parts, we can stand behind them with our 90-day warranty. If you have already purchased a part, please contact us first β we will check whether it is the correct fit before scheduling the visit.
